AGV Side Project Log #4 — STM32 UART Transmission + ROS2 Launch File
The USB-UART converter finally arrived. Sending messages every 1 second over STM32F407's USART2 and confirming reception on the PC serial monitor. Why I'm keeping USART3 for RS485, why I'm starting with blocking, and how to bring up a serial console right inside STM32CubeIDE. Plus running two nodes at once with a ROS2 launch file.

AGV Side Project Log #3 — Battery + Rocker Switch Soldering, Attaching Magnets for Hall Sensors
No coding today. While testing continuity on a DPDT rocker switch, an AI pointed something out and I re-checked the bipolar cutoff structure. I soldered the battery + switch, checked the shipping voltage of the battery, and attached neodymium magnets for hall sensors to the wheels. Progress got delayed by a week because I had to buy more parts, which is annoying.

AGV Side Project Log #2 — First ROS2 Node + STM32 PWM LED
Wrote my first node using the ROS2 talker / listener pattern, and converted geometry_msgs/Twist messages from /cmd_vel into left/right wheel speeds. Then moved to STM32 to configure TIM4 PWM for cycling LEDs. Starting to get a feel for how the two sides will connect.

AGV Side Project Log #1 — From Frame Assembly to ROS2 Installation
Part 1 of a self-driving car side project for my portfolio. Built on a Raspberry Pi 5 + STM32 + RS485 combo. Today: frame assembly, Pi 5 OS setup, and ROS2 Jazzy installation. Includes notes on fixing broken dependencies by adding the universe and noble-updates repositories.
